Personalized Learning for Every Student

HHCS is a caring public school for grades K-12. Our positive and respectful school culture is the key to our success and our students’ academic achievements. Our care for and about every student -- as a whole child and a unique learner -- is the foundation of our school approach. From our vision to our day-to-day classroom settings we:

  • Provide education for the student as a whole

  • Design individualized instruction based on passions, interests, and needs

  • Encourage support and participation from local businesses and community members

Lifelong Learning

At HHCS, we extend the conventional K-12 classroom teaching and learning boundaries by including varied educational endeavors, employing multiple mediums and locations, and modeling and promoting lifelong learning. This includes our work experience program, Vo-Tech partnership, dual enrollment courses, and online classes.

If our students desire to learn a curriculum we don’t offer -- we can solve that. If a student wants to start a club - we can make that happen too. Nothing is off the table at HHCS. We want every student to expand their horizons with new experiences and engaging learning options, follow their passions and to thrive.

Student-centered School

We level our students so they learn at their pace. Every student has a grade level assignment -- but then joins the reading or math classes that are at their personal level.

Individualized Learning

We emphasize the social, physical, and intellectual development of each child. HHCS respects and strives to meet the individual needs of all our children in a caring and creative environment. As a community school, our smaller classes allow us to know every student and their families and to ably support individualized learning. Our dedicated teachers care deeply for every student and engage 1:1 with each unique learner in their class.

Dual Enrollment & Vo-Tech

Our dual enrollment with Allegheny College of Maryland is very popular with our upperclassmen with some students’ earning as many as 30 credits! We also partner with voc tech programs so our students can learn about the culinary arts, welding and diesel systems, and medical and cosmetology fields. We also offer credits for work experience with a robust program that includes interviewing skills and regular evaluations from bosses.
