7 Reasons Why We Elevate Nutrition

At HHCS, our K-12 public school embraces a holistic approach to education. Together with our dedicated faculty, our students explore their abilities academically, socially, and athletically. As our students pursue their individual passions -- we do everything we can to support each unique student we serve from Kindergarten through high school. One of these invaluable supports for every HHCS student is our articulated nutrition curriculum. There’s never an age or stage where healthy choices don’t matter. Here are seven reasons we shine a light on nutrition at HHCS:

1. Nutrition education is a vital part of our HHCS comprehensive educational offerings and we empower our students with knowledge and skills to make healthy food and beverage choices.

2. Teachers and parents alike agree that a healthy kid is a happy kid. We believe it's important to teach our students about nutrition from a young age.

3. Research shows that by teaching about nutrition, our students can recognize how a healthy diet influences emotional well-being. Further, as our students mature, we want to foster the mind-body connection by illuminating how emotions may influence eating habits.

4. Nutrition education serves as a platform to teach our students about food and its relation to culture and family heritage like holidays and celebrations.

5. Our HHCS nutrition education is incorporated throughout the school day and in various locations within our K-12 tuition-free public school. We teach our students about nutrition in health class and via our healthy school lunches. Many of our elementary classes learn about nutrition in their science classes and all of our students are encouraged to eat a well balanced breakfast and lunch provided free to all students and staff.

6. Our students glean the importance of good physical health via our robust athletics and our joyful and structured PE classes courtesy of Mr. Williams.

7. At HHCS, nutrition education is an integral part of our school days.  Our healthy nutritional focus includes discussion, information and guidelines. We engage our K-12  students with activities that promote increased knowledge of both nutrition and healthy options as we enable choices that align with their life goals.

Our small, safe, close-knit K-12 public school sets a high bar for personal goals and we strive together to enable every student to meet their dreams head on. We’re enrolling now  -- tuition-free -- for the 2021-2022 school year. Join us!
