Not Too Late to Switch: Join Us!

At HHCS, we are a community school that supports every student on their unique learning journey.  We are actively preparing our next generations of thinkers, leaders and innovators -- from Hyndman, Bedford County, The Wills Mountain Valley and surrounding areas -- for bright futures; one student at a time.

Now is a fantastic time to join us! Do NOT let the date on the calendar deter you. Our small, close-knit K-12 public school focuses on every individual student and their personal learning path. We offer:

  • Smaller classes that allow us to know every student and their families, to curb bullying of any kind, and to ably support individualized learning.

  • Dedicated teachers who deeply care about every student and engage 1:1 with each unique learner in their small, close-knit classroom.

  • Levelling for our students so everyone is learning based on their mastery and ability -- not just their age. We keep our students together by age, but they explore their skill sets at their pace.

  • An extension of the conventional K-12 classroom teaching and learning boundaries by including varied educational endeavors, employing multiple mediums and locations, and modeling and promoting lifelong learning.

  • Work experience programs, VOC tech partnerships, dual enrollment courses, and online classes.

  • High academic achievement and a high rate of post-secondary continuing education. Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our graduation rates, our many students who are prepared for careers, and our students who go on to thrive in and persevere in college, universities, and vocational schools.

Many of our HHCS students earn their way into the Bedford County Scholastic Hall of Fame and we are extremely proud of this. While we focus on academics we also emphasize the social, physical, and social-emotional development of each child. HHCS respects and strives to meet the individual needs of all of our K-12 students in a caring and creative environment

Our top down school culture is engaging and welcoming to all.  We celebrate Earth Day and our very own Fun Day, and dedicate whole weeks to Random Acts of Kindness, Read Across America, and school spirit. We enjoy book fairs, pie sales, senior field trips, and give back to our community via blood drives and crafts we create for beloved senior citizens.

Our dual enrollment with Allegheny College of Maryland is very popular with our upperclassmen and some HHCS students’ earn as many as 30 credits. We also partner with voc tech programs so our students can learn about the culinary arts, welding and diesel systems, and the medical and cosmetology fields. Our high schoolers enjoy credits for work experience with our robust program that includes interviewing skills and regular evaluations from bosses.

Now is THE time to enroll with us. It’s not too late to embark on a wonderful learning journey. And don’t forget -- our after school clubs and athletics are opportunities for leadership, collaboration and fun.

Our HHCS Hornets enjoy baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, cross country, tennis, basketball, wrestling and cheer. Our clubs include National Honor Society, Yearbook Committee, Marching Band, Student Council, Flag Girls, Squiz and more.

Enroll now and see what the 2021-2022 school year can be -- tuition-free -- for your students. We can’t wait to meet you!
